Tell Your State Representative to Vote ‘YES’ on HJR 5001!

HJR 5001 is a constitutional amendment that would bar the government from using eminent domain to take private property and give it to a private (non-government) entity solely for economic development or increased tax revenue unless there’s a genuine public use or benefit.

In simple terms: It stops the government from taking your land and handing it to a private company just because they think it’ll make more money or bring in more taxes.

HJR 5001 has already passed House State Affairs Committee and is headed for a vote on the House Floor! But there is mounting pressure from Big Oil, Big Utility companies and lobbyists, to shut this down.

This resolution (HJR 5001) is so important because it gives South Dakotans the chance to have the final say on eminent domain for private gain – and it needs your support now.
